SP 1900 - East Rail's new EMU

The new KCRC EMU (SP1900, the contract number award to the builder) were engineered and designed by IKK consortium. A total of 8 trainsets (96 coaches) are depolyed on East Rail in addition to the existing 348 coaches (29 trains). The maximum speed is 130km/h with acceleration of 1.0m/s/s.

The numbering of SP1900 EMU is shown below:

D : Compartment with Driver cab
P : Compartment with Pantograph and Motor
M : Compartment with Motor
C : Trailer
H : Trailer with Hostler
F : First Class compartment

The first trainset arrived Hong Kong on March 22, 2001 and member Ken Lau recorded the moment of landing.
