SS8 (Shao Shan 8) Electric Locomotives

Two prototype were developed in 1994 at Zhuzhou Works. Shaoshan 8 series was originally built for Guangshen high speed line and currently served on electrified trunk route. It has a top operational speed of 170km/h. SS₈ 0001 achieved a record speed of 239.6km/h in 24 June 1998 between Xuchang and Xiaoshangqiao (on Beijing-Guangzhou mainline), the fastest speed achieved in China.
