SS3 (Shao Shan 3) Electric Locomotives

SS3 was developed in 1978 with a power of 4350kW and a maximum speed of 100km/h. A new version of SS3B was developed in 1992 which differs from the original SS3 by a traction bar. The locomotive was mainly produced by Zhuzhou Works. In 2001, Zhuzhou produced some double-headed SS3B for hauling heavy freight trains. Then in 2002, Ziyang began production of double-headed SS3B with numbers 5xxx. Now the SS3/3B locomotives are used in maintain railways in Sichuan, Chongqing and Fujian. Chengkun Line (Chengdu-kunming), Baocheng Line (Baoji-Chengdu) and Yingxia Line (Yingtan-Xiamen) widely use this type of locomotive.
